The new building is located in the Sohar industrial area and the design purpose is to generate a veritable centrality into the plot, a totemic element that will become the company icon, starting from metallic skin and steel+glass facades, till structural elements of the large covered area, reminding to the antimonio natural form. The Administration centre is located in the North-East side of the industrial complex, close to the boundary wall that divide the production area from outside.
The strategic location allows direct access from outside to the administration area and it will locate the new building as a welcome and representation point for those visiting the industrial production area. Moreover the location of the offices will be immediately accessible for workers and visually connected with the production plant.
The complex defines an external public area of access for visitors, easily recognizable, distinguished by the workers’one, reachable by dedicated access.
The concept design starts from the intention to organize the main functional areas of the Administration Centre in two different volumes as following:

• the “fabrica” or space of work, a smaller but taller volume where are concentrated all the open space workstations, executive offices and Huddle rooms.

• the Hall, a low and horizontal extended volume that provide facilities, representative functions and welcomes the visitors: reception, waiting area, conference rooms, multi-purpose room and VIP reception hall, majlis. This volume is holed by green courtyard where the VIP rooms overlook.

The two volumes are different even for the facades treatment: The lower body skin is more materic (rough) and heavy and will be coated by perforated metallic panels (antimony effect), while the office body presents a glass curtain wall with brise-soleil that express a sense of lightness and suspension, floating over the lower one. The plate volume is detached from the ground level in order to create a large shaded area for the building main entrance and for the cafeteria. This shaded area will be used even for the cafeteria outdoor arrangement.

Building accesses are located in this large covered area and are settled one opposite the other, in order to distinguish them and to reach the outdoor areas and parking in both the cases.
Interior spaces of the two blocks are strictly connected, by empty spaces, visual connections, double heights that create various and dynamic interior landscapes.

The office volume is divided in three levels, only a percentage of each level is occupied by slabs: the future office extensions will be obtained with completion of the interior slabs.
Work stations layout will be flexible and can be changed according to the necessity of the employees and to the Company staff growth.
The building program gives us the opportunity of reflecting on the meaning of this architecture inside the industrial site and how they can dialogue one each other. Consequently born the idea of a covered square , as aggregation place and for leisure during the work break. It can become a central space, protected by the roof and refreshing for green presence where all visitors can meet and have social and professional exchanges.
